Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications and the city of Poznan invite to the public lecture titled “Chemistry and Evolution in RNA“, which will be given by prof. Eric Westhof from University of Strassburg in France. The lecture will take place on October 7th at 11:30 am in the Room 8 in Poznan University of Technology Lecture Centre.
A few words about our guest
Professor Eric Westhof was born in Belgium, he has been working at Univeristy of Strassburg since 1981. In 1988 he became a professor in the field of Structural Biochemistry. Since 2009 he had been the Vice Chairperson Research, Doctoral Training and Open Science at University of Strassburg. Prof. Eric Westhof is a world class expert on structural biology of nucleic acids. He also inspired and was a cofounder of the international initiative RNA-Puzzles, which gathers scientists from the field of computational modeling and spacial RNA structures quality evaluation. Moreover, he published 420 articles in many prestigious journals (e.g. Nature, Cell, Nucleic Acids Research, RNA Journal) and was cited over twenty eight thousand times, h-index: 91 (July 23rd 2021 according to SCOPUS). Prof. Eric Westhof is a member of: French Academy of Sciences, German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, EMBO, The Academy of Europe and Scientific Board of the IBCH PAS in Poznan. He is an Editor in prestigious journals focusing on the biology and the chemistry of nucleic acids, e.g. Nucleic Acids Research and RNA Journal.
